Palm Kernel Cake (PKC) is a byproduct obtained from the extraction of oil from the fruit of the African palm.

It is viewed as an ingredient with a regular protein and energy value with a high concentration of fibre.

Similarly, it is used as a basis for the production of animal feeding. Furthermore, it can be seen as a floury residue in the shape of flakes.

Benefits:

Palm Kernel Cake can be extracted by two methods:

  • Spellers Extraction, which a high-fat content is obtained, and Solvent Extraction, which has the opposite effect: a low-fat content.
  • It is used as a supplement for grassland which have a high-protein content, but very low in energy and fibre; in this way, the cattle will be able to digest all of its properties.
  • It is a great option for farmers looking to complement the supply of animal food concentrate for their cattle; besides, for improving their growth and physical condition making it a highly profitable option.
